Numbers given in Auschwitz? Researching Holocaust survivors and victims?
I like genealogy research on my own time free. My family is Jewish and my mother's parents both survived the Holocaust. This has become more difficult to investigate my mother's side of the family and my ancestors, because so many relatives perished in the camps, but I'm back several generations. They came from a village called Glinojeck, Poland. My grandparents both had numbers tattooed on them when they entered Auschwitz. The number of 79,757 was my grandfather, my mom signed, but never recorded the number of my late grandmother. I wondered if there was any registration or ways to go about finding your number. It would mean a lot to us. Also, any site that you can recommend to continue my research genealogy would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! ** BTW I did not know what category to put this under. Thank you for your help so far. I'm trying the sites you have listed. All sites that you can help!
He believes his best chance would be at Yad Vashem. This is a Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem. They have a large database of victims. If you ever have the opportunity to go do not recommend it. I'm not Jewish, but found that it was very touching. It is sure that age, but being Jewish, and if you meet the age requirements, the Israeli Govt. will lead to Israel for free. I know plenty of people there taking advantage of that. I'll put a link below to Yad Vashem, no search database and how to make the trip to Israel. I also put a link to my travel blog my trip to Israel, does not require registration, and I really recommend watching my video from a tour of Jerusalem. It is an hour and type of dive the Internet, but worth your time. If the links do not lead to try to publish your answer on the basis of genealogy in YA. I would like to one day hear from you if you knew what you wanted know – you can contact me through my website – THX
