Boston is more diverse than your description of "academic haven" would suggest. There are many colleges and universities in metropolitan Boston, yes. There are also people of all races, colors, creeds and political affiliations. There are people here with tattoos and people without. Unless you have on your face, I do not think anyone will give you a second look.
